Message from the Executive Director of the International Police Academy (UNIPOL) Ahead of the Delegation's Participation in AFRIDEX 2026
Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, Esteemed Partners,
It is my pleasure to address you in this message ahead of the participation of the International Police Academy (UNIPOL International Police University) delegation in the Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX 2026), to be held at Eko Atlantic, Lagos, Nigeria.
Our participation in this international event stems from a firm conviction that the complex, cross-border security challenges facing our continent and the world require deeper institutional cooperation and practical partnerships built on knowledge exchange and capacity building—not merely declarations or memoranda of understanding.
The Academy’s delegation comprises distinguished African leadership:
Amb. Chief Nwaukor Onochie Jude – Assistant Commissioner of Police (Supernumerary Police Unit); Head of Africa Command, International Police Academy;
Amb. Janet Nkem Nwaukor – Chief Superintendent of Police (Supernumerary Police Unit); Director of Coordination, Nigeria Section;
CSP Jerry Ozioma Ojei – Chief Superintendent of Police (Supernumerary Unit); Community Officer, UNIPOL/IPA;
ACP Emmanuel Olalekan Olatoyinbo – Assistant Commissioner of Police (Supernumerary Police Unit); Community Officer, UNIPOL/IPA.
The International Police Academy is an educational and training institution—not an operational one. It works to strengthen the capabilities of security institutions across Africa and beyond through training, research, and professional development, in full respect of the sovereignty of every nation, and by transferring the ownership of knowledge to local cadres.
Our objective at AFRIDEX 2026 is to build genuine, practical partnerships that yield joint training programmes, instructor development, and the responsible adoption of technology, with a focus on the most pressing priorities: transnational organised crime, counter-narcotics and anti-money laundering, terrorism and violent extremism, cybercrime, and arms trafficking.
Through this participation, we look forward to moving from declarations to tangible mechanisms: information sharing, harmonisation of training standards, strengthened legal cooperation, and the building of trust between individuals before institutions.
In conclusion, I reaffirm the International Police Academy’s commitment to remain a sincere and serious partner to all who seek concrete results that protect our communities and strengthen our institutions.
I wish the exhibition every success.
