Amb. Chief Nwaukor Onochie Jude outlines the Academy's objectives in Lagos, as the delegation prepares to attend under the leadership of Executive Director & CEO Dr. Alexander Jan (Hany El Zahar)

The International Police Academy (UNIPOL International Police University) is pleased to share an exclusive interview with Amb. Chief Nwaukor Onochie Jude, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Supernumerary Police Unit) and Head of Africa Command, recorded ahead of the Academy's participation in the Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX 2026) at Eko Atlantic, Lagos, Nigeria.

The interview is published as the Academy prepares to send an official delegation to AFRIDEX 2026, led by Dr. Alexander Jan (Hany El Zahar), Executive Director & CEO of the International Police Academy and Global and European Union President of UNIPOL Global Police Academy. Dr. Jan has emphasised that the Academy's presence in Lagos is aimed at building genuine, practical partnerships that strengthen the capabilities of African security institutions.

In the interview, Amb. Chief Nwaukor Onochie Jude sets out the Academy's mandate as an educational and capacity-building institution, and explains why the continent's most pressing security challenges—transnational organised crime, terrorism and violent extremism, cybercrime, human trafficking, and arms smuggling—require coordinated, cross-border responses.

He also details what the Academy hopes to achieve at AFRIDEX 2026: joint training programmes, instructor development, responsible technology adoption, and stronger professional networks among African institutions, all delivered in full respect of national sovereignty.

"Our main objective is to build practical partnerships that increase training capacity, support instructor development, and encourage responsible technology adoption," he says in the interview. "For us, success means leaving AFRIDEX with real work programmes that improve the capabilities of African institutions."

The Academy extends its appreciation to the AFRIDEX organisers for the opportunity to share its perspective with the international defence and security community.
